HONOLULU – First Insurance Company of Hawaii (FICOH) has promoted Lance Kawano to Senior Vice President (SVP) of FICOH effective July 1, 2024. In addition to serving as SVP, he is retaining his position as President of First Risk Management Services (FiRMS). FiRMS is a FICOH subsidiary that delivers non-standard risk solutions, including flood insurance through the National Flood Insurance Program and captive insurance arrangements.

Kawano started with FICOH in 2018 and has more than 30 years of experience in the financial and insurance sectors. In his new role, he will continue to oversee FiRMS and FICOH’s Commercial Underwriting Support department and assume additional areas of oversight and responsibility moving forward.

“During his six years with FICOH, Lance has demonstrated leadership, strategic vision, and follow-through,” said Todd Takayama, FICOH president and CEO. “His data-driven and analytical mindset will continue to be major assets as we work to remain a stable and sustainable market for our customers.”

Kawano graduated from Harvey Mudd College with a BS in Systems Engineering and earned his MBA from Columbia Business School. He has also obtained the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC), and Certified Risk Manager (CRM) designations.
